Axle Load Meter

Cabin version for drivers cab: The Kimax 1 axle load display is supplied with a mount for simple installation on the dashboard

The scale you take with you …

Kimax 1 axle load indicator for economical and convenient supervision of axle loads on trucks equipped with a pneumatic suspension system for the rear axle(s).

The onboard scale calculates the current axle load from the current air pressure in the suspension system and displays this figure as a three-digit-value.

The pressure sensors are located in the display making a compact unit easy to install avoiding external influences on the electronic components and sensors.

… and warns when limits are exceeded

Kimax 1 has two separately adjustable alarm levels. Exceeding alarm level 1 is indicated by a flashing display. Exceeding alarm level 2 switches in an internal relay. The relay signal can be used as ON/OFF input for another unit, for example an on-board computer a digital tachograph or an external lamp.

Kimax 1 load scale for trucks assist you in achieving economical transportation, avoid fines and simultaneously optimize the cargo weight.

Air circuits

On vehicles with two independent pneumatic suspension circuits per axle or axle group, the air pressure is measured for each pneumatic circuit with the 2-sensor version and Kimax 1 calculates the current load from these two values.

Axle load measurement

Kimax 1 uses the linear interrelationship of the air pressure in the suspension system and the axle load: By using two reference points(empty weight and weight at maximum load) and the current measured air pressure, Kimax 1 calculate the current axle load with an accuracy of 2% of the maximum load.

Basic operation

Depending on load of the vehicle, the level valve(s) maintain a constant height of the chassis above the ground surface by regulating the pressure in the air bellows. Trucks are manufactured with one or two level valve(s) pro axle or axle group. In case of one level valve you get good results by using a Kimax with single air inlet, in case of two level valves, you get most accurate weighing by using a Kimax with a double air inlet.

Kimax 1 rear axle air suspended

1 air inlet most economical axle load display P/N 10003

The reading is measured only on the rear axle(s) in this version.

2 air inlets load scale, measuring accuracy in all positions P/N 10001

Reading is calculated for both sides of the axle in this version (Kimax 1 standard version). This provides additional measuring accuracy (arithmetic mean), particularly when the vehicle is inclined to one side.

Display of reading

KIMAX has a three-digit 7-segment LED display. The decimal points can be set at the second or third digit or removed completely depending on weighing range.

Two modes of display can be selected for onboard truck scale:

• Automatic switch off of display after approx. 2 minutes reading (recommended in cabins).

• Continuous display readings (factory setting).

Optionals:

RS-232 serial output (option 1) Kimax 1 is available with a serial output in RS-232 format, offering you the displayed value in digital format intended for on-board computers or GPS/tracking units.

Analogue output (option 2) Kimax 1 is available with an analog 0-5 V output corresponding to the displayed value you read on the unit. This output is intended for on-board computers or remote display purpose.

Serial printer output (option 4) Kimax 1 is available with output for most comon serial printers.

Trailer version – for trailers/semitrailers intended for use on trailers and semitrailers: the display is designed for mounting in a sturdy, waterproof stainless steel housing direct on the chassis.
